Course Description
The Dangerous Goods Awareness course is a one-day training short learning course designed to provide flight operations personnel, aviation suppliers, and related support teams with foundational knowledge of dangerous goods (DG) handling in air transport. The course covers how to correctly identify, label, document, and manage goods that may pose a hazard to crew, passengers, aircraft, or the environment if handled incorrectly.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of international aviation safety regulations, recognition of undeclared dangerous goods, and the procedures to follow in the event of a dangerous goods incident. This awareness-level course ensures compliance and safety for all personnel involved in aviation logistics and operations.
Course Outcome
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define what constitutes dangerous goods (DG) and understand the general philosophy behind DG regulations.
- Recognise and categorise common types of dangerous goods, including their hazard classes.
- Identify limitations and restrictions related to transporting DG by air.
- Detect undeclared or misdeclared dangerous goods, using practical indicators and risk signals.
- Understand the labelling, packaging, and marking requirements for DG shipments.
- Interpret the Shipper’s Declaration and associated DG documentation required under aviation regulations.
- Follow acceptance, storage, and loading procedures in accordance with international standards.
- Apply basic emergency response protocols, including reporting and crew/passenger safety procedures in case of DG incidents.
- Understand the responsibilities of ground staff, suppliers, and air crew in ensuring DG compliance.
