Course Description
The Professional Housekeeping course is a comprehensive two-day training course designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and standards expected of professional housekeeping staff working in lodges, camps, and guest accommodation settings.
This course blends theory with hands-on training in areas such as personal hygiene, guest interaction, equipment uses, cleaning procedures, bedroom and bathroom servicing, laundry care, valet services, pest prevention, and quality assurance. It aims to build not only technical competence but also pride, professionalism, and service excellence among staff.
Course Outcome
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Present themselves with professional grooming and conduct, maintaining the image of the lodge.
- Demonstrate confident and courteous guest interaction, including complaint handling and entering room procedures.
- Use housekeeping tools, equipment, and chemicals safely, and follow waste management and recycling standards.
- Apply systematic cleaning procedures, including correct cloth use, surface care, and bathroom sanitation.
- Set up and maintain bedroom and turndown service to standard, including mattress care and linen handling.
- Deliver laundry services in line with hygiene and fabric care protocols, from washing to folding and guest presentation.
- Operate and care for laundry equipment, understanding maintenance and safe usage.
- Provide professional valet services, including shoe shining, pressing-only requests, and basic garment repairs.
- Follow pest control protocols, reporting signs of infestation and maintaining hygiene to prevent outbreaks.
- Conduct self-assessments and implement a personal development plan for continuous career growth in hospitality.
